- Providing Intentional Ministry Solutions for
Complex Social Problems
Grace place
Properties, Inc.
About Grace Place
There is no more complex social problem than men and women
who have been incarcerated returning back to their communities.
Without help, guidance, and the safety of a Christ-centered
community, the chances of these men and women returning to
both the dysfunction of their previous life and the crime that not
only impacted their life but the lives of the victims and communities
from which they came is great.
Grace Place Properties addresses these complex social issues from
two related but distinctive perspectives: transitional living in a
Christ-centered environment which keeps the community
accountable and connected. Secondly, each participant is engaged
in a program that combines both online and in-person courses
addressing the spiritual, emotional, recovery, and re-entry needs of
each person. Personal case management for each participant with a
customized exit/transition plan is a part of their program.
Isaiah 61:1
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has
anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to
bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and
the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”
The Issue
In our daily lives, it’s easy to overlook the power of grace,
forgiveness, and God’s transformative love. We often see the
brokenness in others rather than recognizing how their
experiences contribute to a greater narrative.
This is especially true when we encounter those who don’t fit our
expectations. Perhaps they have tattoos or piercings, and at first
glance, they may appear unwelcoming or intimidating. Learning
that someone has recently come out of jail can amplify our instinct
to keep our distance, making it challenging to approach them with
compassion.
At Grace Place Properties, we intentionally reach out to those who
have caused pain, often stemming from their own struggles. We
believe in the potential for change and healing, even in those who
may seem lost.
Stek Steck,
Executive Director
Stek has dedicated his career to improving the lives of incarcerated individuals and facilitating their successful
reintegration into society. As the State Director of Celebrate Recovery-Inside, he played a pivotal role in providing
support and recovery resources to those within the prison system. His work focused on fostering personal growth and
healing, recognizing the unique challenges faced by individuals in correctional facilities.
In his capacity as State Director, Stek collaborated with a variety of organizations, including Alpha USA’s Division of
Prisons and Reentry, the Corrections Corporation of America, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Together,
they developed an innovative Offender Reentry model aimed at addressing the multifaceted needs of individuals
transitioning back to their communities. This collaborative effort highlighted the importance of comprehensive
support systems that encompass mental health, substance abuse treatment, job training, and social reintegration.
Recognizing that transitional housing is a critical component of successful reentry, Stek founded Grace Place
Properties in 2011. This organization focuses on providing safe and supportive living environments for individuals
coming out of incarceration. By offering not just housing, but also resources and community support, Grace Place
Properties has become a vital lifeline for many who are striving to rebuild their lives. Stek’s vision for Grace Place
Properties is rooted in compassion and empowerment, emphasizing the belief that everyone deserves a second chance.
Throughout his career, Stek has been a passionate advocate for criminal justice reform and the importance of
rehabilitation over punishment. His work is characterized by a deep commitment to fostering understanding and
collaboration among various stakeholders, including community organizations, government agencies, and faith-based
groups.
Stek's contributions have left a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals, helping them navigate the difficult
transition from incarceration to freedom.
Chuck Adair,
Managing Partner, Men’s Program
Director
Chuck’s life has been defined by three significant movements, each shaping his journey in profound ways. Raised in
Nashville, Tennessee, by a father immersed in the country music industry, Chuck quickly recognized that he desired a
life deeper than the superficiality he observed around him. His quest for meaning led him to pursue higher education
at Lipscomb University and other institutions in Nashville and California, culminating in a ministry career that took
him to Texas in 1984.
For over 15 years, Chuck thrived in his vocational ministry, a calling he embraced passionately from a young age.
However, beneath the surface of his adoration for his work, he grappled with deep-seated issues of codependency and
anxiety, struggles that were exacerbated by his chosen path. Ultimately, his personal battles culminated in a
significant turning point: a struggle with lust that led to his second major life movement.
In 1995, Chuck faced a life-altering event when he was arrested in Las Vegas, resulting in a decade-long confinement in
the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. During this challenging period, he learned to lean on his faith, trusting in
the Lord to guide him through adversity. Yet, he soon realized that adjusting to life after incarceration would present
its own set of challenges, a realization that marked the third transformative phase of his life.
After a year working in commercial real estate, Chuck partnered with Stek Steck to develop faith-based dormitories
within Texas prisons. This collaboration inspired the creation of Grace Place Properties, which fosters opportunities
for men and women to transition back into their communities from a Christ-centered perspective. In addition to his
role and responsibilities at Grace Place Properties, Chuck currently serves as one of the Preaching Ministers of the
Grace Place Church, serves as a National Coach for re:generation recovery as he coaches churches in their
development of the re:generation recovery ministry, and leads the Prison Impact efforts at the Watermark Community
Church empowering others to thrive after incarceration through programs like Financial Catalyst and the Job
Connection Program.

History
Grace Place was organized in 2011
after being in faith-based dorms in
the Texas prison systems since 2004.
Our problem was that we had no
place to take our people once they
came out of those dorms. We had to
transition them into places with
people we didn’t know well or at all.
Starting Grace Place allowed a
continuity of care that could
continue upon a persons release.

Equity Statement
Grace Place Properties strives to create an environment of grace and belonging by helping participants through the following
process...
1. Provide affordable, safe, transitional housing and programming to stabilize and equip each participant for the rigors of
everyday life.
2. Create second chance economic opportunities through a network of "felon friendly" employment partners so that every
man and woman who comes through Grace Place Properties has the dignity of working and providing for themselves.
3. Connect our participants with the Body of Christ for worship and service opportunities.
A Grace Place Property participant does not have to have a relationship with Christ to receive the services provided.
However, we unashamedly teach from a Christ-centered, evidence-based perspective.
